Loewenstein, Leo (1879-1956) 
 Physicist, chemist, and German army officer in World War I 
 Founder of the Union of Jewish Front Veterans (RJF) in 1918 and leader of this organisation until 1938. Deported to Theresienstadt in 1943, he emigrated after the war to Sweden and subsequently to Switzerland.
